Fundamentals of Leak Detection and Vacuum Technology
9–11 December 2026 · three days of in-person theory and practical work.
The course is intended for NDT laboratory staff, quality engineers, leak-detector operators and vacuum-system service teams. The announced venue is the New Peterhof Hotel, 34 St Petersburg Avenue, Peterhof, St Petersburg. Advance registration is required and group size is limited.
The programme prepares participants for work within the Russian leak-testing qualification frameworks referenced in the course: SDANK-01-2020, SDANK-02-2020, GOST R 50.05.01-2018 and GOST R 50.05.11-2018. Completion of a training course and third-party personnel certification are separate procedures. International participants should confirm the delivery language and suitability of the qualification route before registration.
What the course covers
Fundamentals and instruments
Leak-rate terminology and units; method classification; vacuum generation; applicable requirements; leak-detector construction, operating modes, maintenance and result reporting.
Test methods and measurements
Helium mass-spectrometer testing, pressure measurement, pressure-change methods, reference leaks, response checks, test preparation and interpretation of measurement signals.
Practical implementation
Equipment selection for the participants’ tasks, vacuum connections and pumping arrangements, process automation, troubleshooting, discussion of practical cases and final assessment.
Practical work
Participants examine real leak detectors and vacuum components, assemble connections and observe the response of a measurement system. Physical principles are connected to instrument preparation, operation and evaluation of the result. The exact practical activities depend on the equipment and participants’ experience.
Assessment and documents
The published programme includes written final testing. It specifies more than 75% correct answers in each programme section as the assessment criterion. Training materials and the applicable professional-development document are provided under the agreed programme; the issuing organisation, eligibility, document wording and any separate certification procedure are confirmed during registration.
