Stainless-steel LN₂ cold traps for condensing water vapor and selected condensable contaminants in vacuum lines. Trap geometry, capacity, flange, conductance and warm-up procedure are engineered for the process.
Description
LeakLab N Liquid-Nitrogen Cold Traps
These traps cool an internal surface with liquid nitrogen so that water vapor and other sufficiently condensable species are captured before they reach a pump or sensitive chamber.
Selection factors
- Target vapor, gas load and required holding time
- Line pressure, conductance and flange standard
- Liquid-nitrogen capacity, fill method and boil-off rate
- Wetted materials, cleaning and regeneration procedure
- Insulation, supports and safe venting
A cold trap does not capture every gas and can release accumulated material rapidly during warm-up. Never isolate a warming trap between closed valves: evaporation can create dangerous overpressure.
Provide ventilation and oxygen-deficiency monitoring where required. Review the compatibility and hazards of all condensed process materials before filling, warming, opening or cleaning the trap.
