Assumptions and use
The margin factor and equal allocation are design choices. Component leakage contributions need a consistent gas and test basis. The time estimate excludes initial pump-down unless included in preparation, and assumes sequential work without overlap or additional delays.
Worked example
For 1e-7 Pa·m³/s, margin 2 and 20 components, the component allocation is 2.5e-9 Pa·m³/s. With 40 + 60 + 120 s per component, batch time is 4400 s.
Record the units, gas, temperature, background and instrument settings with every result. Confirm the model assumptions before applying a calculated limit to a real test.
