Custom accumulation system for detecting very small helium flows from MEMS and other miniature sealed products. Chamber background, accumulation time, transfer volume, detector response and reference-leak calibration determine the validated limit.
Description
LeakLab-AK Helium Accumulation Leak-Test System
The test product is held in a small accumulation volume so helium escaping over time can build above background. The accumulated gas is then admitted to a detector and the transient signal is evaluated against a reference.
Critical design factors
- Chamber free volume, seals, material outgassing and helium memory
- Accumulation time and product tracer-gas history
- Transfer-valve conductance and detector pumping speed
- Background subtraction, blank cycles and reference-leak uncertainty
- Signal integration algorithm and validated decision threshold
The former page advertised sensitivity to 1 × 10−15 Pa·m³/s without a demonstrated noise budget or test record. That value is not repeated as a guarantee. The achievable detection limit must be established by method validation with representative products, blanks and reference standards.
Specify throughput, false-accept and false-reject targets, calibration interval and data-integrity requirements.
